At 14. Arguing with a police officer?

Why would the young lady make the almost instant decision to argue with a police officer, especially at age 14?  These young people are being prompted or conditioned ahead of time to react without reason in case they are ever approached by law enforcement.  These officers didn't show up just to see how many they could shoot, they came because they were called.  Come on parents and Community leaders, lets put things into perspective.  Let reason prevail.................................marge

  1. So, you don't think that 14 year olds can have poor judgment or make a mistake? And what about the historical treatment by police? Maybe that legacy makes individuals nervous and/or suspicious of the police. Maybe they were defending their friends and siblings. That petite girl did not need to be thrown to the ground, head pushed down, and slid around like a ragdoll. She was not a threat. Officers should be able to handle being yelled at by unarmed kids. And pulling out a gun on kids who are unarmed and wearing bathing suits? Unnecessary force.

    ,,J L,, soap box moments…
“A black teenager named Tatiana said her family was hosting a cookout for friends when a woman insulted them, prompting a 14-year-old family friend to respond. Tatiana said a white woman had then told her: “You need to go back to where you’re from” and to “go back to your Section 8 home.”
Tatiana said that she had replied, “Excuse me,” and that then another white woman hit her in the face and “both women attacked” her.”

    (.”). everyone has one…
    <( )>. And here’s mine…
    ,,J L,,
Being brought up in the Midwest, I don’t have a southern mentality and was not brought up to disrespect anyone, racially or scream “police brutality”… as a discussion we had today, you- being brought up in the 50’s, while I was brought up in the 60’s, her attire was proper to me…

Southern mentality is so different from mine…segregation so much a part of their history, this shouldn’t surprise anyone of us… is it police brutality??? YES!!!
With so much happening in recent months, police using force when force isn’t call for, it’s understandable why the teens are wary… it’s been eons since I was 14 but remembering back, I would be verbal if someone made such a remark to me or any of my friends… then, being slapped in the face because I was a different color from a person, I am very surprised the 14 didn’t punch her lights out… I would have… no one has that right to inflict physical violence towards another for stupid, ignorant words… pulling out a gun with young people, in their bathing suits, in the area was overly aggressive by the police…

We are teaching our girls to stand up for themselves… not be afraid to speak their minds, and to be leaders in an era where men still think they rule us… little Tatiana stood up to the white woman, (not know what age that white woman is and hopefully not an adult that knows better), and my bravo’s to tatianna… some say she should respect her elders but how can one expect that when racial slurs are being tossed around by someone older than her… no one deserves that, mostly in this day and age… but one cannot take away the hatred within the south… they still can’t get over losing the war between the states…

The cop overreacted… period… you noticed he didn’t do anything to the white children… tatianna was defending herself against a white woman and the police took sides… only giving more fuel to the fire we already have… we need to train our officers to get the facts first, then react… not react then find out the facts… the officer in question does deserve to be put on administrative leave pending the outcome without pay… he’s on administrative leave… doesn’t say with or without pay… maybe next time he would think before reacting due to wage loss… as for actually losing his job, no… he needs sensitivity training… remember, tatianna is only 14 years old… the cop, being an adult should have known better… there was no hidden weapon under her bathing suit… if the cop couldn’t handle the crowd, he should have called in reinforcement, with a woman cop being present… men feel they can treat us anyway they want and get away with it… not this time… not at any time…

With every passing incident that happens, we need to learn lessons… we need new understanding and training for our policepersons… if a woman officer was called to respond, do you think she would have pulled out her gun, thrown the young lady to the ground??? Me thinkst naught… I’m finding the male officers much more aggressive now, even towards women, in general… so little respect is being made now, at least to me… seems like we are turning out combats cops ready to kill than police that are here to serve and protect…
