Television skin commercials

TV commercials are extremely educational but not for the reasons you think.  Camera and lighting are the name of the game.  You know the  double  identical lady where one is skinny and one is plumb?  I don't for a minute think those are two pictures of the lady taken at a different times.  I've seen this happen too many times to know its camera trickery.  My other favorites are different ladies who get the 'magical' youth creme applied to half their face.  After the applications, do you notice the ever so gradual change in lighting?  As the untreated side gets darker, the wrinkles appear just that, more wrinkled.  Then switch to the lighter side of the face.  The 'treated' side.  My my.  What an improvement.  Just a little more light lessens the appearance of the aging wrinkles.  Commercials (some are funny) but more often that not, they're extremely educational.  Pay attention.  Don't waste you money...................................marge

I blame both

I don't know who deserves more blame for the horrible behavior of many shoppers at the Malls.  It would seem the stores encourage this mob behavior.  Is it the only day it can make enough money for the whole year?  I don't think so.  Now to you idiot shoppers who turn violent.  Is this the only day out of the whole year you think you can get a wonderful bargain?  Think again.  Thanks to the business owners and customers, the mall employees are punished and threatened for purely selfish reasons.  Stop letting mall owners think that this is the ONLY day you will get the bargain of the century.  It isn't!  Honest!!..........................marge

A Big Clue

Watching a Detroit TV news station tonight may have helped us finding out why children are shooting other children  And when I say children, I don't mean by year count.  I mean those that weren't taught about growing up and how the thinking process gets better as they age, or by all counts, should.  If these families abandon their pets outside, hot or freezing weather and they themselves have children, are their kids processing this?  If not now, will these little ones in some way, remember what they saw and felt seeing that animal they loved and hugged being left behind?  Or eventually will they just chalk it up to 'that's what parents do'?  Maybe they just don't stand much of a chance starting early on in their young lives.  Someone knows who these people are.  Turn them in.  It's time they paid for animal abuse now and child abuse later on in the young ones lives.  They need to be stopped.  We, society are the only ones that can do it.  Let's stop looking the other way and hoping someone else will pick up the cause.......................marge

Abused, murdered children

It is now happening all over the United States.  Grandparents leaving guns and bullets that kids know where to look for and do when the (adult) leaves the house.  Mother walks away and leaves her two year old in the car overnight in below freezing temperatures.  So called parents letting their young child suffer for two days with third degree burns on her arm.  It took an  outsider to get help and get the child to the hospital.  Then there, yet again, is the armed road raging (usually a man ). shooting into a car, because it was going too slow to suit him.  It was a grandmother and her three year old grandson.  The three year old is now dead.  Three years old!  Someone is responsible.  Who shall we blame?  Any of us?  All of us?  Do you think none of us?  Critical problems need critical solutions.  How can we and where do we start?  There has to be answers.  Let's find them.  Now.................................marge

Imposter

Recently a family members posted some Thanksgiving pictures of themselves with a person they claim is me.  These are nice people and I would like to get to know them better.  However.  The person they've crowded around, and calling 'Grandma', or 'birmingham marge', appears to be, lets say, 'altered'?  There's is a wrinkly, droopy eyed , skinny, short, OLDER person.  Let me really describe myself.  I'm youthful (for my age), slender in build and have beautiful silver hair.  I'd describe more but I couldn't afford all the requests for autographed pictures.  Sorry about that.  Just keeping the records straight.  Love you all.  birmingham marge..............................................

The killings are growing!

More and more innocent children and their mothers are cruelly being killed in Michigan on an almost daily basis.   Legislators.  Do you really think we don't need to reopen the State Mental Hospital?  Please think again.  And perhaps take action?..........................marge

Reopen the state mental hospital

There once was a State hospital called, for the 'insane' on Elizabeth Lake Road in Pontiac, Mich.  It I believe was for those younger and older adults who posed a danger to society and themselves.  We need it back Legislators.  We are an aging society.  Parents of these adult people are now not able to care for them as they themselves are up in years.   Having this facility back would help and greatly improve our State's mental health issues.  All the shootings, rampages and death of innocent citizens and Officers of the law, could well be reduced.  In addition to lives saved, I believe that in the long run, the state would actually save money. Please. Give it some extremely serious thought......................marge

I can't help but wonder if These two and perhaps a couple others ie. Minnesota and Alaska 'ladies' were cut from the same cloth?  They are scary, undisciplined  and appear to be totally unprincipled in their approach to other human beings and life in general.  Their way, for them, is the only 'right way' for any of us to follow and believe in.  May the Good Lord help us all...........................marge

Someone, anyone, please wake me up from this horrible, too realistic nightmare!  Tell me the country is just joking.  Trump didn't win. Hillary is our new President Elect!  It's the only thing that makes sense.  Anything else is a cruel sick joke.  And worse, much worse, the children of our nation are starting to buy into it.  The idea of waiting four years to change it is beyond comprehension.  The Vice President elect is equally as scary.  Between the two of them and their cohorts, I hope we can survive six months let alone four years.  Constitutional Scholars, please please get busy.  There has to be a way to legally correct this horrendous  and I do mean horrendous mistake..................marge

Trump, a horrific danger.

I woke this a.m. with fearful thoughts of Trump in my head.  Somewhere early in his life, he began feeling terribly inferior to those around him.  A huge bully yes but with an equally huge inferiority complex.  He has admitted this 'complex' has been his driving force, all his life.  He knows no other way to deal with people than to challenge or fight and he brags about it.  What a sad, unhappy human being.  It includes anyone who works for him, ex-wives and perhaps so sadly, his children.  Is he so different than the tyrant dictator of North Korea?  He has publicly encouraged his followers to actually hurt anyone who disagrees with his philosophy.  And Trump's followers will, rest assured.  As for the women who follow him, they've probably been bullied by some man all their lives.  He is a danger to all mankind.  Remember this and please, please, do not vote for him!..........................marge

Protesters

I am left with the impression that all those kneeling for our National Anthem are successful African American entertainers of television and sports.  Not one seems to be unknown or poor but successful in their fields, oh yes.  They appear to think that what they're doing is helpful to all the down trodden for which they kneel.  I see them doing nothing financial or time wise for their cause.  Its turning into a bunch of well knowns, whose accomplishment is to see who can gripe the loudest and longest.  Put your money and time where you mouth is or learn to stand with respect...................marge

Bucket list. Chapter one.

To start.  I don't expect total approval but just remember, I'm trying.  First and probably the most unapproved thing in my bucket, a few cartons of non harmful, healthy cigarettes.  Why you ask?  Because there were only a couple of years between thumb sucking and smoking.  The two ARE connected you know.  Secondly.  A couple dirty socks.  They really are necessary.  Sometimes we go to the Dr., not for a  checkup, but because we don't feel well.  To the person who escorts us to an examining room, the first 'cheerful' words out of 'her' mouth, with a smile are, "how are you?"  That's when I pull out the dirty sock.  If you need to know where I put it, just write to me.  Thirdly.  This brings me to bungee jumping.  Would I consider it?  Not on your life.  I just want to be there with a wonderful camera, simple enough for me to operate, and take a picture of their adventuresome stupidity.  Lastly, for now, lets talk about cottage cheese.  I do need more protein in my diet but.  One more day of putting boring white gloppy stuff into my mouth and I shall really throw a fit and the cottage cheese container.  I have an idea though.  Has anyone considered wonderfully flavored or colored cottage cheese?  How about 'chocolate' or 'red raspberry'?   Surely this is doable.   Until next time.......................marge

Scientifically? Don't argue with me.

Can I prove it?  Um, maybe not but I am certain its well worth a try.  Many many years ago I remember, mostly women, falling, putting their arms out to catch themselves and ending up with a broken wrist, arm or dislocated shoulder and in a cast for many weeks.  I can't imagine going to the bathroom (wiping) or taking a simple shower with said cast on.  So here is my theory.  I've fallen a couple times and at least twice during different pregnancies.  I refused to put my arms out or try and catch myself before hitting the ground.  I just let myself 'crumble' as I went down and roll if I'm in motion.  Look scary to others? Yes!  But, perhaps more embarrassing to me, especially with all the hovering of those nearby.  But I tell you.  I was able to get up and be OK!  (The stubbed toe was minor).  Think about it.  It may save a trip to the Emergency Room...........................marge

Its ok to lie.

I recently got an email from a staunch Republican (are there any other kind?).  I asked him if he 'fact checked' the crazy accusations about Hillary.  He said it wasn't necessary. Oh yes.  Anything bad about Hillary must be the truth, right?  Or so it seems to any Republican.  So many unacceptable, improper stories about Trump have come out, not just recently but continually.  Do any Republicans believe them?  I strongly doubt it.  Do any of them check 'Trump facts', apparently not.  He can do no wrong or anything dishonest.  Are the Republicans drinking something in the water that the Democrats aren't?  These (as I previously thought) are not stupid, uneducated people.  So what happened and how do we wake them up and help them, soon?......................marge

Nobody left.

School officials in Detroit stole from the children.  Bank of America has apparently committed fraud against its customers and now this.  One CEO of the drug company that makes Epipens, takes home a monthly check for over one million dollars.  Yet, they had to raise the price of the drug because it was necessary.  Of course it was.  There's probably more than one CEO and if she gets a million monthly, they hope to also.  Back to the ol 'integrity'.  Where  oh where has it gone................marge

Integrity. Do we have it anymore?

We have become or maybe were always this way, I don't know, but public fear and amoral business people are taking over our country.  First.  Protests are lawful but when they become violent, taunting, scary mobs of people, its gone too far.  I don't blame the protesters for their anger.  I don't blame the police for being extremely defensive.  We end up with death of innocent people and totally unnecessary destruction of property.  Secondly.  If we can't trust public school officials who steal thousands from out children and get a few year in jail as punishment and public trust bankers who steal millions from innocent people who invest in their company and the bankers get beyond belief bonuses, even when fired, whom I then wonder, can we trust?  If I went to thirdly, it would be the so called ministers of God who live in multi-million dollar homes by taking from the poor and keeping  it for themselves.  Is there any hope for us?...................marge

Don't tell on us

If you see someone shopping in a store on a big holiday, know why.  It's not that we need something that we forgot to get yesterday, or can't wait until tomorrow, the reason is more important.  It may be the only chance we have to see a smiling face or speak to another human being on this day.....................................marge

Abused, mistreated, ignored.

The Caregiver.  Not always by choice nor the choice to quit.  Where is their Sainthood Medal?  Mother Theresa chose her vocation.  Frequently not the case for 'Caregivers'.  For some Caregivers it's out of an income necessity, for survival.  For others, guilt by other family members who may, or may not do their share of helping.  These people deserve recognition and so much more.  And let's not  leave out the receivers of their care.  The 'patients' through no fault of their own, are put in this position by 'accidents', drawing of the short straw of life if you will.  They also deserve the best we can give to them.  Is all of this easy?  Most certainly not.  It may even become unbearable for both.  Pain, anger, frustration, helplessness belongs to all involved.  Givers and  receivers should be 'Sainthood' recipients.  Hope for the future.  Is this just a 'word' to smooth our consciences?  I 'HOPE' not, but it surely seems that way............................marge

49er's Quarterback Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick has every right to make a protest but did he choose the right way?  He's seen and followed by many football viewers.  He has the opportunity to build bridges to make this a better country, but sadly, he chose the negative route.  Thumbing his nose at 'his' Country was not a good choice I feel.  He's young, well known and I hear, wealthy.  I am saddened by his choice.  Nobody should be killed on any street in this or any country.  Which brings me to the young and older men and women in the Armed Services who almost everyday are being killed in foreign streets, far away from home.  And whom are they doing this for?  All of us, including him.  Could he not stand and give honor to them for their selfless following of duty, risking their lives everyday for each and all who live in the free world?   There is honor and there is disrespect.  Choose thoughtfully and carefully Colin Kaepernick................................marge

I just figured it out.  If Trump gets the votes of the brainy, highly intelligent people, its not because they're brainy and highly intelligent,  Its because they totally lack COMMON SENSE!  Yes.  Common sense.  The common sensers will save our country from those 'brainers'. Destroying good kids

At a recent softball game in Decatur Illinois for grade school children, a 'dad' really blew it.  Apparently its his job to continually degrade and embarrass his young son.  He yelled to the child on the field, "catch it like a man!" and "I don't know why I waste my time coming here!"  I hope the mother, or someone,  wakes up and saves this child from an uncertain future as an adult.  What a shame.  What a shame. I hope a real adult steps in and saves this young man.................marge

Trump's latest promotion.

Trump's most recent promotion of a staff member is for one reason.  Kellyanne Conway has changed 'art' into a 'science' when it comes to monopolizing the floor and not allowing 'disagree-ers' the opportunity to challenge what she is saying.  Even the moderator seems incapable of  interrupting her.  she is 'good', or 'bad', depending on how you look at it, at keeping total control of the said floor.  Sometimes it's alright to interrupt an intentionally long winded speaker in the name of fairness..................marge

Summer Olympics. Lost its 'honor' this week. 2016

An honor to participate.  Dishonorable to use less than expected means to win.  That young lady won a 'dry' diving finish, but she didn't didn't win the 'running race' and it was a running race.  The other, 'real' runner, should receive a gold medal, not the 'diver'..................marge PS.  And now, a short while later. several male Olympians tried to cover  up their shameful behavior by lying to the Rio police and the world's news people.  I have always blindly believed that being an Olympian participate was an honor few ever knew.  The 'honor' now, seems to be disappearing...........................marge

So you want to be a Police Officer.

The way things are going, no young person with any sense would want to become a police officer.  But these young people are driven by their good hearts.  Police cars  and business (not to mention lives) are destroyed and why?  Because a person with a gun, pointing it at an officer wouldn't put it down after being told to do so.  This gives the officer every right to take the next step or lose his life.  These people who are threats to society, are now looked upon as the 'victims'.  What is SO wrong with this picture?....................marge

Double edged sword

I'm sure Marijuana does some good for some people but that must be weighed against the harm it can cause.  To calm and ease the pain of an individual is good.  On the other hand, What happens when you take it away from someone who uses it to calm themselves and soften their anger?  It seems everyone may be between an rock and a hard place with this dilemma.  Maybe we should let Drs. decide who gets it and for what purpose, not a storekeeper.  And we haven't even addressed those who indulge and then get behind the wheel of a car or something equally dangerous.............marge


 

Donald Trump? You've got to be kidding.

I don't know where to begin.  There are so many pieces of mouthy Trump floating around but that's only part of the problem.  Each day, each story he spouts is altered  a little.  What comes out, on a daily changing basis, is how he adjusts the statements to always make himself appear better.  How long before the intelligent people of the US will realize this.  I'm assuming you all have brains, but why aren't you using them?  These people would probably pay top dollar for swamp land if Trump told them to buy it.  Really.  I believe they would!  He's a biased prejudiced bully.  Not just against different nationalities but gender also.  Wake up you voters.  Take some deep breaths and let that brain out to really and reasonably work.  It won't hurt.  I promise.......................PS.  If the TV networks would stop putting his every word on camera (aka stop feeding him). perhaps he would implode or shrivel up and blow away............................marge

He never met a man he didn't like BUT

Will Rogers, famous Humorist, commentator, plus much more who died too early in his life and career, might think twice or more, if he ran into Donald Trump.  Every perfect rule I'm told, needs one exception.  Donald Trump would have been his exception.  Everyone should get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their personality but maybe one exception also applies here.  Three minutes or less being in the same room with Trump should do it.  Can one be narcissistic, have the tendencies of a sociopath and run for President of the United States?  You Betcha, to borrow a phrase.  Sorry.  I couldn't help myself.  If you are even considering a vote for Trump, please, stop and call a mental health line.  They will do their best to help you and also keep our Country safe.  I kid you not..............................marge

I hate your hair.

I watch a lot of baseball, football and some hockey.  Not a lot of the other sports.  If I could, I would sneak into these player's locker rooms with scissors and electric razor in hand.  I've about reached my breaking point.  This stubble crap sexy?  No.  Old time hunters used to come out of the woods after a few days looking like that and that's what you remind me of.  Then there's the really curly, longer hair sticking out from their caps and almost making the hats pop off.  These are followed by a couple more complaints.  Wavy hair past the shoulders getting in the way of seeing what you're doing.  Now for the (to be polite, I'll call them beards).  I'm amazed you don't show up ready to play with food of assorted colors mixed in the hair.  I'm waiting and I do expect it to happen, for a small bird or similar in size animal to pop its head out as the game begins.  I haven't figured out why you're doing this as yet.  Do you think you're sexy or attractive?  Think again.  Is it a form of rebellion? probably not.  Maybe then, just maybe, because it's too much trouble  to go to a hairdresser or barber.  If you're a pro player, it's certainly not the cost.  You'll have to help me  on this one.  I'm lost for answers......................marge  PS.  I did enjoy Mark the Bird Fidrych of many years ago but he's the only exception.

Black men dying. Now white officers dying also.

I don't even pretend to understand what has been happening these recent weeks.  There are right now, not facts being shown, just pictures of these men being shot to death.  Horrible horrible horrible.  I can't help but I can empathize in bewilderment with their loved ones.  I feel, through fear, by all, irrational emotions are taking over.  Is generalized panic setting in?  The madness just keeps getting more and more frequent.  Outrage is to be expected but it alone won't stop these incomprehensible happenings.  There is a better way.  We must find it.  Now....................marge   PS.  And now, a few hours later, white officers, in the line of duty, to protect all are openly ambushed and murdered.  There is no justification for these killings.  All of these deaths should not have happened.  Because of  misguided or (warped) souls, in or out of any uniform, we may find ourselves with fewer people who want to sign on to serve and defend.  Then where will we be?  NRA vigilante groups running our towns and streets?  Think long and hard.............again....marge

Baby killers on the loose.

Another baby in Michigan shot and only two years old.  How and when did we put the mind set into people that the only way to protect themselves is to carry arms and use them the second they feel  threatened or offended.  It has become a badge of honor to shoot first and think after.  Never mind little children keep getting in the way.  Not the shooter's fault, even if he/she didn't take the time to aim.  And that is something they probably were never taught, among many other things.  Must we wait for this generation to die out?  Is that the solution?  How many more little ones will get hurt or die while we 'wait'?  Just getting the guns off of the streets and the warped mind owners that have and use them is the unbelievable task we face.  How do we start?  I know volunteer people are out there trying but they can't do it without help.  Someone, anyone, don't give up pointing us in the right direction..........................marge

Playing with fireworks, adults and children is the same as going boating and stacking the life jackets in a corner.  Unconscious people won't float if they aren't wearing their jacket.  If it's not important to you, think of the relative that loves you most..........................marge

Heartfelt hugs

How many times do we give a quick hug out of habit.  They are nice but not the ones that really count.  When you hug someone, put your heart into it.  Give it because you want to, not because you're supposed to.  True hugs can cure unspoken emotional pain, loneliness and suffering.  There isn't a time when all of us haven't needed a true hug.   So get out there and do your job!.................................marge

Children. Silent victims for maybe even decades.

They didn't know it though.  They were never told.  They certainly didn't know to tell anyone.  They didn't have to like it, were embarrassed by it but still, never said a word.  A crime?  Never entered their little minds.  If time doesn't heal it then time may blunt the child's memory, or so it would seem.  And that's the magic word, 'seem'.  I can't answer that.  Just love them and especially talk to them, for their and your sakes.......................marge

I would feel so proud

I watch and listen to the parades of our and our allies soldiers and law enforcement people and how they salute with great pride.  I've always wanted to 'salute'.  I haven't earned the right and that saddens me.  I feel their pride  but I miss the privilege of saluting..............marge

One person. So many dead

How do we and can we, stop this crazed madness?  Mentally deranged, ill, 'mad' sick men and any other 'name' one can think of for these killers.  And yes.  They seem to be men or (boys) if you will.
The whole world is one big bloodbath and now, here in the United States also.  Did not Sandy Hook give us a clue?  When will  the NRA and many many others comprehend that the Second Amendment to the Constitution did NOT mean for people like this latest killer to have and use these weapons at will or even be able to get them without a problem?  They got them from someone or some group.  It shouldn't be too hard to figure out who these 'groups' are should it?  And why can't we go after them and stop them.  Let's do something, anything.  Do these providers feel no guilt, shame?  That in itself shocks me.  We must decide and now.  No more massacres in the name of all that's Holy.  Please.................marge

Murdered child yet again in Michigan

I just got up.  I've seen no TV or listened to the radio.  I did receive a call telling me that the body of the kidnapped child may have been found.  Children are murdered in their homes, their front yards and taken from  in front of their local corner stores and murdered.  There are no more safe havens here.  None.  No safe place to raise our children.  This we thought, was a nice and yes safe midwestern state called Michigan.  A good place to be and raise a family.  Not anymore.  We will go down in the history of Michigan as the  'No safe child State'.  We all are becoming paranoid about young people and babies safety and justly so.  And the worst?  We don't even know what to do, or how to do it.  Sad and frustrating beyond belief.......................................marge

Transgenders

Apparently its not alright to donate your long hair for those children with cancer and then go to a public bathroom.  One woman found this out by a finger pointing accusing customer in a chain store.  Oh my.  And she wasn't even an 'OFFICIAL FINGER POINTER'.   Dear dear.  What do we do with these self appointed 'GOOD PEOPLE'?  Is this what their Ministers/Pastors have taught them?  I have short hair and don't wear makeup.  Am I next on the list of self appointed 'GOOD  PEOPLE'?  I suppose I, if approached by one of them, could quickly strip from the waist up but I have a feeling that would get me arrested.  You are not only phobic but your uninformed, uneducated, narrow mindedness is showing through.  If you're a 'believer', Lord help us..............................marge

It doesn't matter what position we use to  urinate.  Its all for the same purpose, no more, no less.  They have doors on most bathroom stalls.  You want privacy?  Shut the door and lock it.  May I suggest counseling for those who can't handle it.  You, sadly, are the ones with the problem..................marge

Shameful Michigan Legislators

To all you Michigan Legislators who continually stall in aiding Detroit Public Schools.  I hope all your names get listed when you seek reelection.  Then I hope the voters make sure you don't get reelected.  Maybe its time you weren't so secure with your income and know what it feels like to be unsure of your next pay check, even though you've earned it and those Detroit teachers have.  As for our illustrious Governor, so much for nothing....................marge

How to shorten the U.S.Presidential race.

Why didn't I think of this before, or is it because I've finally reached the saturation point of boredom?  Brains and reasonable thinking help, but that's not what this long campaign is all about.  Endurance.  That's the answer.  How many of us could for months, fly around the country on a daily basis, get next to no sleep and appear, everyday, to be earnest, happy and alert?  I'd have been long gone months ago.  Perhaps we should just narrow the field of candidates down with a couple simple tests.  I was going to suggest weekly 'stress tests' but at this point, everyone probably would pass.  My only other suggestion would be quick 'mental normalcy' exams.  But alas, even the experts might disagree on those conclusions.  Sorry.  I think we're right back to square one.  Oh wait.  We could all eliminate watching any political opinion and candidate speech shows until next October.  Yes!  That's it!  I don't think we'd miss a thing, really..............................marge

Are the cashiers (store keepers) allowed to guess?

What if two heterosexual people,  friends, of the same sex, go on vacation together?  Who, among many of the places at which they stop, gets to make the 'what are you?' decision?  Right now especially in a couple U.S. states, beware of, you don't look 'normal' to me, their 'normal'.  Lets say they guess wrong, can they be sued for their 'wrong' guess?  One would sure as hell hope so.  Religions teaches Love and Acceptance of those not exactly in 'our image', or it should if it doesn't.  You don't have any 'God' given right to quickly judge others, especially those who do no harm and surprise surprise, mostly likely do many good deeds,  maybe many more than we can say about you 'deciders'..............................marge

Please don't get 'pro choice' and 'pro abortion' people mixed up.  they are NOT the same.  I could never accept the idea of an 'abortion of convenience', that is not even in my vocabulary.  I am however, pro choice.  That is all I ask, not to take that privilege or right away from those who well could have serious needs.  And that possibility does exist..........................marge

Forget poisoned water In Flint Michigan.

It seems someone in  the Michigan Legislature is tired, or bored with their current offices.  They're hoping to move to a newer building as I understand.  It will only cost millions of dollars.  Apparently to them, this is more important than stopping the lead poisoning of the citizens of Flint and surrounding areas.  I hope residents of the State of Michigan are aware of this, especially during election time.  Let's wake up and try and figure out why we elected these 'upstanding' citizens in the first place and more importantly, how NOT to reelect them.  Where are you Governor?  But perhaps that's asking too much. PS. Does your 'new' or 'old' place have black mold like the Detroit Public Schools that student and teachers are forced to occupy?....................marge

The Senator should be ashamed of himself.  He was elected to represent the people of this country.  He is failing to do that.  The majority of US Citizens WANT a hearing NOW.  We have the right and should have the freedom to be able to choose yea or nay for a US Supreme Court Nominee selected by our President.  He is not only denying us but our duly elected President this freedom.  It is NOT about Republican VS Democrat.  It is about living by our Constitution as it was intended.  How does he sleep at night?...............................marge

Television execs aiding and abetting?

Where would Trump be without all the Television coverage?  Does he pay for it?  Apparently not.  Clever (not shrewd) businessman he may be but whats the excuse of  the 'Television decision makers'?  I'm totally left with the impression it has nothing to do with news integrity.  It appears to be just plain down to 'profit'.  News analyzers and commentators are being pulled into this so they don't lose their jobs?  Maybe its time they stood up and said, "Enough.  No more".  I'm beginning not to even trust the 'trusted' commentators anymore...............................marge

For whom would you vote?  Let's start with the boisterous, fluctuating facts brave candidate surrounded by five secret service men protecting him (maybe from himself) with their lives?  (Their brave wives should be awarded gold stars). Anger management for gun owners

Dear NRA.  Perhaps if  anger and lack of temper control were legally listed as 'mental illness', there would be far less 'legal' guns owners out in public.  Like you say, 'guns don't kill, people do'.  May I correct you.  'angry people with guns kill'.  Is this what you're fighting for and really want?  Stop letting those with uncontrollable, short fused anger problems have legal access to street carrying weapons.  Lets quickly find a way to keep weapons out of their hands.  We're running out of time...............................marge

Big health issue

To those of you, men and women, who douse yourselves in perfume or cologne before going out.  Don't you realize you actually are a health hazard to other?  You are.  Don't think you aren't for one second.  I don't have a clue as to why you feel it necessary, but daily, you are an actual danger to the general public with allergies simple and severe.  Wash, eat breath mints but please, no more perfume baths!.................................marge

Hero's to be

Don't take the easy route.  Go that extra step(s).  First, you will probably have to get some extra education past high school, in addition, many week of specialized training.  If you are fortunate enough to make the grade, you'll then need to do hopefully, the final two things.  1.  Swear to serve and protect your fellow citizens and 2.  Get and put on a policeman's uniform.  You're all set if you have what it takes!  Good luck!  PS. I admit to not remembering the GM Flint crisis when it happened but can't help wondering.  If GM had a problem with the water being 'bad', why at that time, was an investigation not instigated?  If it damaged new car parts, didn't anyone thing to ask what it might be doing to humans and if not, why not?...............................marge

Lost generations. How do we turn it around?

I keep hearing about sad groups of people living in one house.  We call them families, but they're not.  They are  multi generational dysfunctional relatives.  Therein lies the problem.  Sometimes, in our ignorance, we don't even realize they exist, nor do they,  or is it they don't know how to get out?  How can these debilitating chains be broken?  Its easier just to 'daily go along'.  That doesn't work.  How do you give hope where none has been seen or felt for more than one generation?  Even when given help, it seems to be taken as 'owed' to them, that's what they're taught or think.  I don't blame them.  It may be all they know.  How can this vicious generational circle be broken, or can it?  I can't answer that.  Hoping for better in itself is worthless.  The problem belongs to us all.  We all must do our best to fix it.  Waiting for someone else just won't work.  So when do we start, not tomorrow, not next week, but now, but how?...........................marge

Adulttrification

I know.  I made up the word but it works for me.  As you all know, I'm older, aging and getting more frustrated with you younger ones daily!  I used to be able to go into a store, pick out what I wanted, pay cash for it and go home.  You've turned that into an impossible task, especially if its on sale and requires a 'coupon', dated of course.  Heaven forbid if I don't or can't shop on that particular time line.  So I go and pick out what I want.  I'm two dollars short of the required spending.  I go get two items to bring the price up to the coupon requirement.  "Sorry" says the cashier.  The coupon doesn't include under priced (sale) items.  Those get put back.  Daughter finds something she needs and it now makes the coupon 'valid'.  Yea! Success!  Easy? No.  Time consuming?  Yes and exhausting.  Guess I'll take my savings and go for coffee with my daughter.  Win some, lose some, the latter the higher ranking of course..........................................marge

A Mayor's responsibility?

I was pleased for Detroit when Mike Duggan  became Mayor.  I admit not knowing the scope of his duties.  Detroit has not had a good track record when it comes to past Mayors.  To allow the Detroit Public School System to be so dangerously deteriorated makes me wonder, just who is responsible?  The health and safety of all who must daily attend these building seems to be terribly low on the list of importance.  I'm so glad teachers, students and parents are now taking part in an active revolt.  All those exposed to long lasting poor health problems don't deserve what has been put upon them.  All this talk about health and well being of our country's citizens, except maybe (among other places) for Flint and Detroit leaves me totally puzzled.  It just seems like all talk.  Environmental quality for many is real  with many active participants.  There are people out there who really do care.  We need more, especially those in government.........................marge

Flint's leaded city water

I do NOT think the citizens of Flint are dumb by any means.  It's the City officials who send out water bills for leaded, poisonous water I have to wonder about.  Why would they even do that?  I concluded the honest residents who continue to pay do it out of fear of getting penalized.  How can the City continue to bill them?  Wouldn't they be the ones breaking the law?  Somewhere common sense got lost in the shuffle.  Folks, put the money aside as if to pay, but don't.  Don't let the City scare you into paying for undrinkable, extremely unhealthy water.  It should be shut off so no one gets it in their homes.  Fight for what is right.  You have a lot of backers.  The state and every citizen should fix the problem.  The cost is secondary to each and everyone of us.  Health comes first..................................marge

Birmingham Mi Baldwin Library

Through a phone call, contacting City Hall or emailing, please let our City Commissioners know you support our local library.  Sometimes we forget or it doesn't seem too important.  A yes vote for the library funding from our Commissioners IS important.  The library is always seeking better ways to improve their Services to our and neighboring communities.  Don't let them down.  Don't let our city down.........................................marge

forcing Detroit teachers

Children, over crowded classes and seriously unsafe building aside.  How can the Emergency Detroit School Administrator live with himself, let alone insist on putting all these people in 'harms way'?  If this is legal, no wonder the Detroit System in going under.  Maybe it should and soon.  Who knows how many serious health issues can be prevented.  For some it may already be too late.  And  how, on earth, can it be legal,  going into a black mold build and falling ceiling tiles on a daily basis?  Let him go live there, especially overnight.  Is Detroit and Michigan telling citizens they have no right to protect their health.  Something is critically wrong here.  Where are all the attorneys for those being forced into untenable situations.  Do children and teachers count for nothing?.......................marge

Lead and mold

I admit to not understanding what is really happening in Detroit Public Schools and more importantly, who is responsible.  It appears there is one school (if not more) in particular that has ceilings and floors rotting and falling from unchecked water leaking everywhere.  Where is the emergency person appointed to oversee this disaster?  Where are those adults (including teachers and parents in the system who allow children, over a long period of time,to attend a building probably full of mold?  This didn't pop up overnight.  Do they not think this deserves as much attention as the leaded water in Flint, Mi?  Mayor, what is your responsibility in this horrific situation?  Michigan leaders seem to be in the F grade category when it comes to their ability to do their job in a critically urgent manner.  The children of Michigan need an advocate and NOW........................marge

Does no one care?

An apparent homeless man from the Novi Mi area died recently.  Does it matter to anyone?  He was a regular at the Beck, Pontiac Trail roads Mc Donald's.  I hope the following isn't true.  No one will claim his remains.  His friends from McD's  are probably not the richest and perhaps the same goes for family members I hear he had.  What does that say about all us 'good people'?  May he Rest in Peace....................................marge

Flint Michigan disaster attention seekers

The poisoning lead water in Flint Michigan is bad enough but something also greatly bothers me, all the political, not so shiny reputationed Pastors (ministers) of yesteryear showing up in Flint, or will be soon.  They lost my respect a few years ago.  I resent them trying to hang on to their oh so 'sterling' reputations of long ago.  My gut reaction is they're there not to help, but to keep themselves in the limelight.  That is terribly sad.  And yes, I do like and admire Michael Moore.  He is a product of Flint and know whereof he speaks.  I consider his voice important...........................marge

Seniors great need

The population is aging.  Getting around for seniors is getting harder, especially with the larger stores.  This is true of clothing and especially chain grocery stores.  I can't walk the distance right now so I use the electric carts when I can find them, something greatly lacking is non grocery stores.  I have a simple solution, if you want seniors to continue shopping in your stores.  Put small, scattered little benches throughout the whole store, not just at the front entrance.  Surely the cost isn't prohibitive and you would make costumers ever so happy, especially me.  I might even be able to give up the electric carts to someone who needs them more than I do.  (It also might save me from wiping out a whole table of stacked oranges).  (I've come terribly close).  So for my area, Kroger and Meijer Thrifty  Acres, go for it!  PLEASE..............................marge

Public praying

You can be Roman Catholic, a Republican but somehow putting the two together is feeling a little scary.  These people and other Christians have me thoroughly confused.  If I choose to or not to pray at any given time, I can.  Why do they think otherwise?  If one believes in God, then silent prayer is just as good as a public display.  Why don't they understand that?  I would think God does.  There is no point to argue!  No reason to demand, yes demand public display.  A true Believer, whomever it may be, understands that.  Now you try....................................marge

Don't have to try it

Money savers.  Works for me.  I think.  You need a good 'inside detoxing cleaning'?  Eat something that mildly disagrees with your system.  Should work the same day.  Want to lose 40 pounds in one day.  I did it several times.  Of course I had to put up with a crying baby after.  Hair not the graying shade that others like?  Just tell them its the latest trend coming from a small, not well known European country.  They won't have any way of checking.  Just make sure the name sounds halfway legitimate.  That's it for today.  Good luck!.................................marge
