To wwj radio 950 Detroit. Your radio broadcast this morning about the stabbings in northern Mi is deplorable with far ranging harm to beautiful children waiting for a home. To note that one of those taken into custody is the couple's 'adopted' child, is incomprehensible beyond words. Are you warning the world to beware of adopted children? Are they statistically more apt to commit violent crimes? Your station has made a thoughtless thoughtless serious error in judgement. Do those people who read the news on air not think about what they read and speak? Or is it not that important to anyone at wwj 950 radio?............marge

It saddens me to report that my children accuse me of not hearing well. I therefore decided to have my hearing checked out. Recently a granddaughter and I ate at the delightful coney place at Adams sq. B'ham. She commented on the music that was playing. I said, "What music?" She politely stifled a grin and giggle. For the record. I can hear men just fine, so unless you women (children are another catagory) sound like Betty White or Lauren Bacall, just smile and wave at me, at least for now...........marge

Beware! On guard everyone! Its becoming dangerous. There are increasing numbers of groups and individuals, ie Michigan's Assistant Attorney General, promoting homophobia, hatred, bigotry, vengance and more. Apparently salaried government officials and politicians think its alright to actively engaged in this behavior. If Trade Marks had been in effect in one A.D., these people would have been sued for a, 'Christian mock up' violation. They are (to themselves only of course), 'The Good Bible Toting Christians'. God must be spinning endless circles in Her utter exasperation.......marge

Nancy Grace, for shame

I feel Nancy Grace is a cruel hurtful person who does great damage to people who don't deserve it. To lay a huge guilt trip on a mother whose child died accidently is inexcusable. Remember too, this mother doesn't have the wealth of Nancy Grace. Let Nancy be locked in with her twins for one week with little or no assistance. Let her be almost solely responsible for their everyday care, food, medical, clothing and any other needs they may have for that week. Save us from the Nancy Graces of this world, please............marge

another intuitive genius........like me..........

I went to the corner store. While there, I picked up two ears of corn. Came time to check out. The young person on the other side of the counter looked perplexed. She then asked if I'd like three ears, instead of two. Now it was my turn to look perplexed. "No" I said. "Two are all I want". She then announced that they were six for $2.00. As I pondered as quickly as I could, the light popped on! Intuitive geniuses are NOT good at math! I did, however, reach the logical conclusion! (don't ask me how). The actual cost, is three for $1.00. I could do this! Rounding up, as stores do, making each ear, 34 cents! Oh the pride I felt....I also passed latin in high school over 50 years ago. Not by a lot though. Thank heavens for vocabulary tests, those were a life saver!.......marge

I was asked to vote yes, saying I'm in favor of the up coming Arizona law to take effect July 29, 2010. I have a problem with that. Besides, that law wouldn't help us in the Detroit area. We can't look at a Canadian and say "Ha"! You look a little, yes, a little different than my neighbor or I. We here in Michigan can only go by the difference in language. Then we have to be careful because they are good at disguising how they speak. They sound quite (U.S.) American. Their speech pattern is so similar as to be almost indistinguishable from ours. I was oot and aboot the other day and was almost certain I'd found one. Calling the police to check them out and being wrong would be most embarrassing eh?.........marge

Hurting your senior loved ones

I have senior friends in their nineties. They are in emotional pain. It appears that thinking, or unthinking relatives seem to be making these seniors wish God would take them sooner, rather than later. They are ordinary people who have lived extroadinarily long lives. One, only wishes to hear from her only child. That child, has chosen not to contact her. The other senior, listens while those about her squabble and bicker, putting her in an untenable position. She cries with sadness when I call her. She has a brain but no one will listen to her. She is afraid to speak up, afraid she might be put where she doesn't need or want to be. I want terribly to help them. I don't know how..............marge

Children's battlefield

I keep trying to find any explanation for the death of a child by gunfire. There just isn't one. Didn't know she was in the home? Should have. From watching the 'swat teams' on TV, the raids are well executed plans to catch the bad guy. The 'bad' guy in California, I believe, was fired upon as he held his toddler. Who died? The toddler. This is not an attack on police personnel in general. Some how, the planning is flawed. No policeman/woman would ever want to shoot/kill a child. Some indepth, really indepth, revamping of procedures or goals is in order. The sooner, the better.......marge

Seniors worst fear

Removal of their self determination by well meaning or not well meaning relatives, even if the Senior can afford and is capable of choosing their self determination. Happiness is having a choice, even if ones choice leads to a shorter life span. Is to die, even accidently in the home you've known for many years, surrounded by all that is familiar, including friends and helping neighbors so bad? The other option, being moved to assisted living, among strangers and all that is unfamiliar. Its to protect you, one is told, keep you from harm, add years to your life, never mind the loss of dignity or desire to want to live longer. One can fall in a strange, unfamiliar place, perhaps even more readily. Just for whom is the peace of mind? The displaced Senior??, the relative who now can give a sigh of relief because they won't be blamed for any fall or resulting death?? As for me, if you read where the decedent is dressed in a tutu, the casket filled with vinegar and there's a large 'bingo!' in the obituary, PLEASE ignore it.......marge

LaRouche-distasteful at best, total disgust at worst..

I went to the Birmingham Post Office today, 3-19-10. In one corner of the parking lot were two young people waving patrons over to come get their 'Larouche Political Action Committee' literature. That not being bad enough, they had at least two large posters of President Obama with a Hitler mustache. I was angry, upset and thoroughly disgusted. Freedom of speech? Yes, and thankfully, thats what gave me the right to tell these two what I thought of them. marge

What's proper care?

The following was my recently printed letter to the Editor. I felt it bore repeating on my blog. When you are halfway healthy, waking up with a dry mouth is not just annoying, but quite uncomfortable. For most of us, the treatment is just reaching for that glass of water we put on our night stand the evening before. Now let's change the circumstances. You're in a room. You have a morphine drip in your arm. The note beside your bed says 'palliative care'. You're dying. The staff wants to comfort you. Your family wants to comfort you. The staff doesn't always have the time. The family doesn't have the training. You are in a state of semiconsciousness from the morphine, which is keeping you from heavy pain. Your are also unable to communicate or really be aware of just how dry your mouth is. No one helps you, not out of meanness, but out of time constraints and ignorance, both forgivable. A few half teaspoons of water gently placed inside your lips, so simple yet so fearful if you've never had to do it before. Is this perhaps what Dr. Kevorkian wanted us to see? Was his method so much more horrible than days of the above? marge

Rep. Moss. You take precious time to sponser a bill on changing dog registration laws but seem to find it terribly unimportant to go to meetings to help change existing inequitable, cruel laws regarding young people and the Sex Offender Registry. My taxes pay your salary. Your priorities have me feeling cheated out of my money. You always seem to get your picture and name in the papers. That sir, is not an accomplishment. Helping your fellow citizens on serious matters is. marge

My tolerance of Nancy Grace and her 'went missings' has now reached the 30 second level. Worse, she has caused 'went missing' to spread to once accomplished broadcasters here and in Canada. DISAPPEARED. I know, its an almost forgotten discriptive, used for eons, word. Simple, catches your attention and is totally understandable, but NOT 'catchy'. I don't suppose it would do any good to tell her..........marge

sex offender registry candidates

If the Sex Offender Registry were enacted before 1900, do you realize how many great grandparents or grandparents might very well be on the 'SOR' list? Do you remember hearing about or knowing someone who 'had' to get married at an unusually young age? Do you remember a high school or junior high classmate getting caught urinating out of doors cause it was easier than finding an indoor toilet to 'go'? How about the proverbial policeman shining his flashlight into a steamy car window in a somewhat isolated area? Today, many and I do mean many of these male individuals would be on that 'infamous' Sex offender Registry and their lives turned into a 25 year living hell. Do you find that hard to believe? Check it out. Find out for yourself. Do an indepth study. Don't just mentally grab the first thing you read and assume you know all the rest. You don't. Hopeful Republican Paul Scott of Grand Blanc, running for office of Secretary of State of Mi, is either extremely narrow minded or overwhelmingly ignorant. If one wouldn't keep an old address on a current drivers license, why would one keep the wrong gender? Things and people change. It is not illegal, unethical or immoral. Oprah

I watched a blog about Oprah Winfrey showing the maimed woman attacked by a chimpanzee. A vote was taken about how right it was to show her reconstruction work. It should have been 100 percent OK. If not, then the message says that anyone injured in an accident or war should hide their damaged bodies. Oh, the message that sends to our returning veterans. Perhaps we should build a compound (albeit comfortable) and enclose all maimed soldiers in it. Those of you who cringe at the site of 'different' should be ashamed. Those who are 'different', according to your standards, are not as touchable, huggable and lovable as other. Oh where do you get off deciding who is visually acceptable and who is not? Wake up. Grow up. Figure out what's really important in life. marge
